Some links on DetailedVerdict are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something, the retailer or merchant pays us a percentage of the sale or a fixed fee. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had gone to the merchant directly.
This is how the site is funded. We do not charge readers, and we do not run display advertising.
How this affects our reviews
It does not determine our verdicts. We publish criticism of products we earn commission on, and we publish limitations that may talk a reader out of buying. A review that only ever says yes is worth nothing to you, and a site that publishes only positive verdicts stops being read.
What it does affect is which products we cover: we tend to review products that have an affiliate programme, because those are the ones that pay for the work. We think that is worth stating plainly.
How affiliate links are marked
Commercial links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute, and every page containing one displays a disclosure near the top of the page, before the first link.
Our relationship with the brands we cover
We are not the manufacturer, seller or distributor of any product reviewed on this site. We do not hold stock, process payments, ship orders, or handle returns, refunds or warranty claims. All of that is between you and the merchant you buy from.
Regulatory basis
This disclosure is made in line with the US Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), and with equivalent requirements including the UK Advertising Standards Authority’s CAP Code and the Competition and Markets Authority’s guidance on hidden advertising.
